This is a big part of my life. I love planning trips, vacations, adventures, whatever you want to call them.
I planned an impromptu trip to southern Oregon with my mom for a few days of relaxation and exploration. I used United miles (10k each) to get from Ontario to Medford with a layover in San Francisco. Yay miles! Boo to the close-in award booking fee of $75 each charged when you book within 21 days of your departure. Blog Million Mile Secrets has a somewhat hit or miss method to try and avoid this fee, but this time I just decided to book straightaway and pay the fee.
To get home I booked us through Seattle on Alaska Air. Bummer to fly north to end up coming south but SEATAC is a beautiful airport so it’ll be fun to show my mom around a bit.
There are many lodging options in this small town. I’m glad the summer crowds will be gone – especially now that Ashland’s Shakespeare Festival is over for the season. We chose a small B&B as it’s my moms preferred accommodation choice, though I’m usually more of a Hyatt girl or boutique hotel enthusiast.
It’ll be great to see how the town has changed in the last 25 years – that’s how long it’s been between trips. Ashland and the surrounding area offer a plethora of beautiful flora, fun shops and great eats. Enjoying all of that with someone you love? Well that’s just about the best thing ever!
